ATLANTA - A MARTA bus driver was temporarily suspended over the weekend following a crash involving the driver's bus and a train.
The bus was struck between 5:30-6 p.m. Saturday in Hapeville but no one was seriously injured, officials said.
Steen Miles, spokeswoman for the Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority, said the bus driver apparently tried to cross the railroad tracks at North Central and Sherman roads. A train had stopped near the crossing.
As the driver went around the guardrail and crossed the tracks, the train rolled back and clipped the back of the bus.
"The operator was clearly in violation of MARTA policy," Miles said. Seven passengers suffered "very minor" injuries, including one person who complained of neck and back pain, officials said.
The driver, whose name was not released, was suspended pending an investigation.
