Man invades home and rapes Augusta woman in front of family

AUGUSTA - Police say an Augusta woman who was raped while her fiance and 13-year-old son were tied up in another room may have been the victim of mistaken identity. <br>

Maj. Ken Autry of the Richmond County Sheriff's Office the victims told police the man forced his way into the house Sunday expecting to confront the former residents. <br>
<br>
Police say a man knocked on the victim's door around midnight, pulled a gun and forced himself inside. Afterward, he tied her up and put her with the others under the blanket, reportedly threatening to kill them if they took the blanket off their head. <br>
<br>
Before leaving, the man took a Marine Corps sword, a gold ring, a wristwatch and a cell phone. <br>
<br>
The woman was taken to the hospital, treated and released. All three were treated for minor rope burns. <br>
<br>
No one has been arrested for the crimes and police have not released the names of the victims.
