SAVANNAH - A Savannah policeman is in the hospital Sunday night after a suspected car thief dragged him along the asphalt for 20 yards.<br>

Corporal Gary Yates saw a 2002 Toyota Camry that had been reported stolen. As he tried to remove the suspect from behind the wheel this afternoon, the man drove off, catching Yates in the door. <br>

The driver floored it in reverse for 20 yards before another police officer rammed the Camry with his car, stopping it. Yates was taken to Saint Joseph's Hospital with road rash injuries. He is expected to recover fully. <br>
<br>
The suspect - Kenneth Grant - was arrested on several charges.
