Savannah policeman injured by auto theft suspect

SAVANNAH - A Savannah policeman is in the hospital Sunday night after a suspected car thief dragged him along the asphalt for 20 yards.<br> <br> Corporal Gary Yates saw a 2002 Toyota Camry that had been reported stolen. As he tried to remove the suspect from behind the wheel this afternoon, the man drove off, catching Yates in the door. <br> <br> The driver floored it in reverse for 20 yards before another police officer rammed the Camry with his car, stopping it. Yates was taken to Saint Joseph&#39;s Hospital with road rash injuries. He is expected to recover fully. <br> <br> The suspect - Kenneth Grant - was arrested on several charges.
