AUGUSTA - Police said a shooting at a convenience story early Sunday was "premeditated," and the victim's father said it may have been retaliation for his son's testimony in a murder trial two years ago.
Marcus Dewayne Taylor, 28, was paroled from prison in May after serving two years for cocaine possession. His father, Willie Taylor, said his son testified in a 2000 murder trial involving a drive-by shooting that claimed the life of an 83-year-old woman.
"A lot of people are saying that it's related to that," Willie Taylor said.
No arrests have been made in Sunday's shooting.
"There's absolutely no doubt that he was targeted," said Sgt. Scott Peebles of the Richmond County Sheriff's Office. "It was premeditated. He was shot at least four times."
