JONESBORO - A Clayton County police officer testified Tuesday that Julia Munger grabbed and blocked her while she was trying to restrain Munger's adult autistic son in a grocery store.
Prosecutors showed photographs from immediately after the January incident that showed bruises on the right arm of Officer Shannon Stroup.
The 54-year-old Munger faces battery and obstruction charges from the incident at a Publix grocery store in Morrow.
Her 23-year-old son, Billy Munger, reportedly became agitated and started cursing at employees. His mother is accused of being too rough with the officer who tried to remove him from the store.
A store customer testified earlier Tuesday that Julia Munger was pleading with the officer during the scuffle to let go of her son.
The trial was in its second day Tuesday and is expected to continue Wednesday.
If convicted, Munger faces a possible sentence of two years in prison and a $2,000 fine.
