Our local guy, Bob Prechter, is featured in Business Week

I'm always intrigued by the great diversity of people we have in Hall County, and I am not talking about diversity in politically correct terms, for the diversity I am talking about doesn't care about the color of their skin or their ethnicity.

I am talking about the great diversity that comes from where they have lived, and what they have accomplished their varied skills and especially their expert knowledge in one field or another.

For instance, the other day I was reading the current issue of Business Week and here is a full page article featuring our own Bob Prechter. Of course, since the article originates in New York, they refer to him as Robert R. Prechter Jr., and identify his Wall Street newsletter as The Elliott Wave Theorist, but it has to be our own Bob Prechter. And they do identify his home base as Gainesville, Georgia,

Even though the Business Week columnist, one Robert Barker, doesn't totally agree with some of Prechter's prognostications, it doesn't do any damage to the image of either Prechter or of Gainesville that Business Week felt compelled to write a major piece about him. Sort of like the day another professional resident of Hunt Tower, Woody Stewart, showed up on the front page of the Wall Street Journal.

It is logical that Business Week would be interviewing Bob Prechter right now, however. After all, his latest book, Conquer The Crash, stands as the number one bestseller among Amazon.com's business and investing titles. Essentially Prechter is a stock market bear, and the way the market is going right now ... well, is it fair to say it is suddenly a ferocious bear market?

But whether you agree with him or not, isn't it fun to live in a town that has the kind of brainpower floating around that grabs the attention of one of the world's leading business magazines?

This is Gordon Sawyer, and may the wind always be at your back.
