Report: Georgia provost to be named new Ohio State president

COLUMBUS, OHIO - The University of Georgia's provost reportedly will become the president of Ohio State University. <br>

Television station WBNS in Columbus, Ohio is reporting that university trustees will name Karen Holbrook Thursday morning as the replacement for William Kirwan. <br>
<br>
University officials and members of the search committee declined to comment Thursday. Trustees have a special meeting at 9:30 a.m. <br>
<br>
Holbrook would be the first woman president at the nation's second largest university. The 59-year-old cell biologist is also senior vice president for academic affairs at Georgia. <br>
<br>
Kirwan announced his resignation in March to become chancellor for the Maryland university system. Past president Edward Jennings has been serving as interim president since Kirwan left July 1.
