Fulton County deputy indicted in home invasion case

ATLANTA - A federal grand jury has indicted a Fulton County deputy sheriff accused of providing sheriff&#39;s uniforms and information to accomplices who invaded the homes of suspected drug dealers, stealing narcotics, jewelry and cash. <br> <br> A dozen members of the ring have been charged with breaking into at least 11 homes in metro Atlanta in the past year, posing as sheriff&#39;s officers. <br> <br> Deputy Brenda Wiggins, 33, provided the uniforms and information about the targets, according to the indictment unsealed Tuesday. <br> <br> Wiggins has been suspended with pay and is free on $25,000 bond. <br> <br> Her lawyer, Akil Secret, said Wiggins ``denies being involved in the distribution of narcotics or any direct involvement in home invasions.&#39;&#39; <br> <br> The indictment said Wiggins participated in the conspiracy from April 2001 through December. <br> <br> In some cases, according to the federal charges, members of the ring assaulted and tortured the suspected drug dealers and later sold some of the narcotics they stole.
