New DeKalb County superintendent unveils dress code

DECATUR - The DeKalb County school system will enforce a stricter dress code when school opens in August, with districtwide uniforms phased in beginning in January. <br> <br> New superintendent Johnny Brown unveiled a ``Dress for Success&#39;&#39; program at Monday night&#39;s school board meeting. The rules bar bare midriff&#39;s, netted or see-through clothes, halter or tank tops, baggy pants, short-shorts and skirts with high slits. <br> <br> ``There&#39;s a proper way to dress for school, and it does affect the way you learn,&#39;&#39; Brown said. <br> <br> Elementary and middle schools in DeKalb will have uniforms in January, and they will be required for high school students next August. <br> <br> The school district&#39;s two attorneys said the new policy doesn&#39;t need board approval because it&#39;s an administrative rule.
