MACON - Only about a week after Georgia outlawed video-gambling machines, the Macon Police Department discovered more than 400 illegal machines during a raid Monday.
The company that owned the machines, Collins Games of Georgia, also had about four thousand machines seized in a raid in Augusta last week.
Macon police Chief Rodney Monroe says the machines seized there eventually will be destroyed or sold out of the state.
Police will hold the machines until a judge issues a condemnation order, which Monroe says should come quickly.
District Attorney Howard Simms said Tuesday that no arrests have been made.
The General Assembly passed a statewide ban on video poker machines last year. A federal judge upheld the ban last month, and it went into effect July 1. Even having an unplugged machine is now illegal and punishable by a fine of up to $1,000.
