Police find more than 400 gambling machines in Macon warehouse

MACON - Only about a week after Georgia outlawed video-gambling machines, the Macon Police Department discovered more than 400 illegal machines during a raid Monday. <br> <br> The company that owned the machines, Collins Games of Georgia, also had about four thousand machines seized in a raid in Augusta last week. <br> <br> Macon police Chief Rodney Monroe says the machines seized there eventually will be destroyed or sold out of the state. <br> <br> Police will hold the machines until a judge issues a condemnation order, which Monroe says should come quickly.<br> <br> District Attorney Howard Simms said Tuesday that no arrests have been made. <br> <br> The General Assembly passed a statewide ban on video poker machines last year. A federal judge upheld the ban last month, and it went into effect July 1. Even having an unplugged machine is now illegal and punishable by a fine of up to $1,000.
