PORTLAND, OREGON - It's time for a futile gesture at a ballpark on behalf of the accounting industry, and the Portland Beavers are just the guys to do it. <br>

The Triple-A affiliate of the San Diego Padres is going to sponsor ``Arthur Andersen Appreciation Night'' later this month. <br>

At the team's July 18th home game against Edmonton, anyone named ``Arthur'' or ``Andersen'' will receive free admission. The first person named ``Arthur Andersen'' will get a gift package that includes a party inside a luxury suite for 80 friends. <br>
<br>
Fans are being encouraged to bring old documents to be destroyed at several ``shredding stations'' throughout the park. And the team will tuck away certificates for a game of ``massive debt hide-and-go-seek.'' <br>

Beavers general manager Mark Schuster says that, with all the negative stuff that's come out of major business accounting scandals, sooner or later you have to laugh about it. <br>
<br>
Portland plays at PGE Park, named for Portland General Electric, a utility owned by-- Enron.
