DECATUR - Lawyers for a woman who testified against former DeKalb County Sheriff Sidney Dorsey say they will fight to get her bonding license back.
The attorneys for Shirley McMichael say they will file a petition in Superior Court this week to overturn the current sheriff's decision to revoke her bonding license.
DeKalb County Sheriff Thomas Brown says he revoked McMichael's bond based on her testimony that she had bribed Dorsey and had sex with him in order to be allowed to keep her business in operation.
Wednesday, jurors said they didn't believe her story. They found Dorsey innocent of two bribery charges based on her testimony, although they convicted Dorsey of other charges including the murder of Sheriff-elect Derwin Brown.
The current sheriff said he revoked McMichael's license based on a Georgia law that ``requires that bonding agents have good moral character and that they comply with policies, rules and regulations.''
McMichael's attorneys say she had no past problems with the sheriff's office and that she was Dorsey's victim.
