ATLANTA - Christie's New York is putting the most comprehensive collection of ``Gone With the Wind'' memorabilia on the auction block. <br>

The items, assembled over 40 years by Sharpsburg resident Herb Bridges, include everything from movie posters and signed first editions of Margaret Mitchell's novel to seats from Loew's Theatre, site of the 1939 Atlanta premiere. <br>

Bids for the July 24 auction can be made in advance by mail or e-mail, or by telephone or in person during the auction in New York. <br>

A preview of the auction items will be held this weekend at the Road to Tara Museum in Jonesboro. Other auction items are on view at the Margaret Mitchell House and Museum in Atlanta. <br>

The 72-year-old Bridges started collecting ``Gone with the Wind'' memorabilia 40 years ago. He said it was a difficult decision to get rid of most of his collection, but he didn't want to burden his children with everything, so he decided to dispose of it and invest for his grandchildren's education.
