ATLANTA - WSB-TV is reporting Sunday morning that an Atlanta police officer shot and killed a man over night in Buckhead. <br>

It happened at about 3:30 a.m. in a restaurant parking lot. <br>

According to police, the plain clothes officer was working surveillance when he spotted a suspect trying to break into a car parked in the lot of a closed down restaurant. <br>
<br>
A Suburban with a group of men inside was parked behind the restaurant. <br>
<br>
As the undercover officer approached the suspect, the suspect jumped into the Suburban. The driver tried to leave the scene. <br>
<br>
The officer allegedly fired a round into the Suburban striking and killing the driver. <br>
<br>
No names have been released in the incident. <br>
<br>
The officer suffered a broken leg.
