ATHENS - The children who live in East Athens love to see the purple and green truck barrelling down their street.

Not because it means ice cream or hundreds of books. But because this truck carries something a lot more meaningful -- the Word of God.

For the past four years, local minister Joe Loyal has been bringing church to the streets through his non-denominational Faith Today Ministries Incorporated.

On any given Saturday, Loyal, who is from Atlanta, can be found handing out hot dogs and sodas from the back of the converted -- and wildly painted -- delivery truck that folds out and doubles as a puppet stage, sound board and faith learning center.

He says church is boring for most kids so he tries to give them an atmosphere where they can be themselves.

And Loyal says, the kids, most of whom are already hardened by the harshness of life, come out in droves too participate.
The kids watch puppet shows, sing songs and play games.
