Police sargeant John Quigley said the girl, Demecia Scott, appeared to be in good health and was taken to a nearby hospital. Scott and her mother, Dionna Scott, were being transported to police headquarters to give an account of what happened.
Two men and a woman broke into the southeast Atlanta home about 11:45 p.m. Tuesday and forced three women and five children into a single room, Quigley said.
Then they took the child and fled in two vehicles. Police wouldn't reveal the contents of the safe or say whether drugs were involved.
