A new alma mater for a new school

GAINESVILLE - Freshmen and sophomores meeting for orientation Tuesday night at Chestatee High School heard their school song for the first time.

The almamater was composed and sung by Choral Director Beth Bowen.

"Rising with the mighty eagle
Is our pride so true.
Soars with loyal admiration
Chestatee for you."

Principal John Barge told the estimated 500 students and parents to expect team work and he wants parents to form a Parent Teacher Organization.

Barge called for a first Chestatee PTO meeting next Wednesday August 7th at the school open house.

School starts next Friday August 9 and Barge promised that what few loose ends remain from construction will be tied and the school will be ready.

The 9th and 10th graders checked their schedules, bought school spirit items and parking permits and got a look at their brand new school.

Renee Clark has a freshman starting school next Friday August 9th.

"The school is wonderful and we're excited about all the teachers," said Clark.

August 30 Chestatee plays its first football game with Flowery Branch, Hall County's other new high school.
