Police re-certified

GAINESVILLE - The Gainesville Police department has been awarded re-certification in the Georgia Law Enforcement Certification Program.

The Gainesville department was one of the eight original certified police agencies in Georgia in 1997. The department has been re-examined by independent assessors and retained the certification last week.

"I am especially proud of the men and woman of the Gainesville Police Department and to the community we serve," Police Chief Frank Hooper said.

The Gainesville department is also nationally accredited.

The state re-certification was confirmed in a ceremony at the Summer Conference of the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police in Savannah.
