Mississippi sheriff replaces Georgian at head of national organization

NATCHEZ, MISSISSIPPI - Adams County, Mississippi Sheriff Tommy Ferrell is to be inducted Wednesday as president of the National Sheriffs' Association. <br>

The 55-year-old Ferrell will serve as president for a year. He succeeds former president John Cary Bittick of Forsyth, Georgia. <br>

The NSA is holding its annual convention this week in Tulsa, Oklahoma. <br>
<br>
Ferrell said one of his biggest responsibilities will be improving communication between law enforcement agencies across border and agency lines.
