MARIETTA - The Gone With the Wind Movie Memorabilia Museum, which opens to the public next weekend, is still without a director.
City officials are close to hiring an unnamed candidate, but are waiting on background checks.
The candidate has worked most recently for Calloway Gardens and spent several years as director of museum shop sales at the Margaret Mitchell House and Museum in Atlanta.
``As long as that turns out and everything's official, we'll make the offer,'' said Bill Bruton, Marietta's city manager.

The salary for running the museum will be about $32,000 a year for the full-time position.
The city is also in the process of hiring between six and eight part-time exhibit clerks.
Grand opening festivities for the public will be at noon on June 16.
Admission to the museum will be $12 for adults.
