ATLANTA - Thousands of parking spaces that the Atlanta airport closed after September 11 will reopen Wednesday.
Hartsfield Atlanta International Airport got federal permission to reopen the nearly 1,800 spaces that were roped off because they were near the main terminal. Another 1,200 or so spaces will remain closed.
Airport officials say they have lost nearly six million dollars in parking revenue because of the closings.
After testing the effect of an explosion close to the terminal, a federal agency concluded Hartsfield could reopen levels one and two of the north and south parking decks.
Spaces within 300 feet of the main terminal on levels three and four of the north and south parking decks will remain closed until further notice.
