Hank Aaron hopes to open car dealership in Columbia County

APPLING - Home run king Hank Aaron plans to open a Jaguar and Land Rover auto dealership in Columbia County. <br> <br> The county commission was scheduled to meet Thursday to take up Aaron&#39;s rezoning request, submitted by local developer Bobby Meybohm, of a 14.69-acre parcel of land. <br> <br> Aaron told The Augusta Chronicle, ``We want to build a beautiful facility there. It&#39;s beautiful there. We&#39;re hoping that everything will be approved, and we can go on about our business.&#39;&#39; <br> <br> Planners have some concern about the development&#39;s effect on an adjacent retirement community. <br> <br> Aaron added, ``They can rest assured ... we will do anything possible to make this as easy as we possibly can. That&#39;s their home, and if I thought I was coming in and interrupting their lifestyle I wouldn&#39;t do it.&#39;&#39; <br> <br> Aaron owns several businesses in the Atlanta area, including a BMW dealership, and several Church&#39;s and Popeye&#39;s chicken restaurants. He also plans to open a Krispy Kreme doughnut shop. <br> <br> Aaron, a senior vice president and assistant to the president of the Atlanta Braves, hit 755 home runs during his major league career.
