ROME - Memorial services for veteran journalist Katherine Elliott Barnwell McRae are scheduled for Tuesday in Rome. <br>

McRae -- whose career included 17 years with The Atlanta Constitution and The Atlanta Journal -- died Friday of natural causes. She was 81. <br>

A native of Rome, McRae graduated from journalism school at the University of Missouri and went on to work as a reporter and science editor for the Atlanta newspaper. <br>
<br>
While in Atlanta, she met and married newspaperman Tom McRae. <br>
<br>
McRae also served as a correspondent for the Canadian news service and Physicians Radio Network, covering medical news in the United States. <br>
<br>
She also wrote and edited sports stories for The Refresher, Coca-Cola's trading magazine.
