SAVANNAH - A jury in Savannah has acquitted a 23-year-old Chatham County man of murder in the deaths of three people in 1998.
The jury found Carlos Huntley innocent yesterday in the shooting deaths of 43-year-old Felicia Caldwell, 41-year-old John Ambrose the Third, and 31-year-old Dana Crosby. The three were found dead on a bedroom floor in Savannah in 1998.
It was the second time Huntley had gone to trial in the case. His first, in December, ended in a mistrial after jurors failed to reach a verdict after deliberating for nine hours.
But Huntley did not get to walk out of the Chatham County Courthouse a free man. He was sent back to prison, where he is already serving a five-year sentence for selling cocaine.
It took investigators almost three years before they made an arrest in the case.
The jury deliberated about two hours before returning its verdict.
