Mary Kent, 57, of Walthourville, died after the Mercury Grand Marquis she was riding in was struck head-on by another car, Sgt. Jon Long of the state patrol said.
Authorities said another vehicle, a Dodge Intrepid, crossed into several lanes on U.S. 84 near the Allenhurst city limits. The vehicle then sideswiped a Ford pickup truck before it hit the Marquis, Long said.
The driver of the Intrepid, Jane Maggette, 66, of Cairo, was killed, police said. Her husband, Richard Maggette, was severly injured and taken to Memorial Health University Medical Center. His age was not immediately available.
