Search continues for victim in Lake Hartwell wreck

FAIR PLAY, S.C. - The search continued Tuesday for a man missing and presumed dead after a sports utility vehicle ran over a guardrail on Interstate 85 over Lake Hartwell on the Georgia-South Carolina border. <br> <br> One body was recovered and one person survived the crash about 5 a.m. Monday. <br> <br> Gary Sheldon, 59, of Roswell, Ga., was in stable condition at Oconee Memorial Hospital after climbing free and swimming to safety. <br> <br> The group was returning from mission work in Washington, said John Whatley, a spokesman with Tres Dias, an interdenominational Christian organization that has a chapter in the Atlanta area. <br> <br> The body of Dr. Joe Randall, 57, of Roswell, Ga. was found in the vehicle, in about 14 feet of water. <br> <br> Whatley said the third member of the group was David Highland of Marietta, Ga.. <br> <br> The accident occurred as the 1999 Ford Explorer swerved to the left and struck the median cables and a guardrail near Exit 1, Highway Patrol Lance Cpl. Dan Marsceau said. <br> <br> The vehicle then darted back across the two southbound lanes and into and over the right guardrail. The vehicle raced down an embankment before stopping underwater 30 yards from shore, Marsceau said.
