Former deputy indicted in alleged 9-11 charity scam

LAWRENCEVILLE - A grand jury has indicted a former Gwinnett County sheriff&#39;s deputy in an alleged charity scam involving September 11th. <br> <br> Investigators say 34-year-old Robert Addison was in uniform when he and another deputy collected two-thousand dollars in cash donations in a bucket at busy intersections in Buford and Lawrenceville. <br> <br> The indictment released yesterday says nearly 600 dollars of the money never made it to the families of New York police officers who died in the terrorist attack. <br> <br> His attorney - Brian Steel - says his client is innocent. <br> <br> Addison worked for the sheriff&#39;s department for three years and guarded inmates. Sheriff&#39;s spokeswoman Stacey Kelley says he was fired December eighth after investigations into the cash collections.
