ATLANTA - Will Atlanta police be moving into the former strip club that they helped shut down?
Deputy Chief Wesley Derrick says the department is eyeing the former Gold Club site as its new headquarters in Buckhead. The precinct is now located across the street in the Lindbergh Plaza shopping center.
The property is prime real estate, and the police aren't the only ones interested in the site. Among those interested are officials with the Metropolitan Area Rapid Transit Authority, which owns many of the surrounding tracks.
The fate of the site is uncertain. Federal officials didn't get the property when they seized the building and are still negotiating with property owners.
The value of the lease or the land has not been established.
