Decatur man killed during Grand Strand biker festival

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. - Four bikers, including one from Georgia, have been killed in traffic accidents during this year's Carolina Harley-Davidson Dealers Association Myrtle Beach Rally, making it one of the deadliest events in recent years. <br>

The latest accident happened early Saturday morning on U.S. 17 Business when a motorcycle driven by Charles Eugene Heyde Sr., 51, hit an unmarked police cruiser. <br>

Heyde, of Lincoln Park, Mich., and his 46-year-old passenger, Victoria Lee Zickafoose of Decatur, Ga., died. The officer, James Costello, suffered minor injuries. <br>

Earlier this week two men were killed when a van pulled into the path of their motorcycles in Garden City. <br>
<br>
Two bikers died during the festivals in 2000 and 2001, and one person died in a motorcycle crash in 1999, according to state Public Safety Department statistics.
