ATLANTA - Fulton County police are trying to determine whether a 48-year-old man arrested in the slayings of four men in an Alabama video rental store may be linked to a fatal shooting at an Atlanta sports bar.
Investigators want to know whether Donald Wheat Senior of Clay County, Alabama, could be the man responsible for the killing of a pregnant woman at Sidelines Sports Grille in Sandy Springs on March seventh.
Co-owner Barbara Kriewald and a new manager being trained were closing down the restaurant when a man came into the office. He shot the 34-year-old Kriewald, killing her. He also shot the manager, 27-year-old Michael Kirby, who remains paralyzed.
Fulton County police say there are striking similarities between the Alabama crime and the unsolved slaying at the sports bar. Both killers were white males in their 40s, both used two guns, one in each hand, and both apparently killed their victims unnecessarily.
