Main Street prayer in Flowery Branch

By By Jerry Gunn
FLOWERY BRANCH - The churches of Flowery Branch united in prayer, song and scripture in the heart of town Wednesday night.

Wednesday evening is the traditional time for churches to hold a mid-week service but in Flowery Branch it was a bit different.

A platform for speakers and singers was erected in front of City Hall, metal chairs were unfolded and the congregations of 11 area churches gathered for worship and prayer.

Flowery Branch First Baptist Church Pastor Chuck Nation hopes it will become an annual event in his town and that all cities everywhere will have a prayer service on Main Street.

"It's pretty awsome to be able stand in the middle of Main Street, U.S.A. and pray to our God right in front of City Hall," said Nation.

Main Street was closed to permit the prayer gathering.

Nation said he would like to see the next Main Street prayer service held on the National Day of Prayer.
