ATLANTA - The man who authorities say was scuffling with a Fulton County deputy when his son was fatally shot will appear in court in June for a probable cause hearing.
Twenty-two-year-old Detrick Corbett was charged yesterday with aggravated assault, aggravated battery, felony obstruction of police and interfering with custody.
His son -- Detrick Junior -- died early Wednesday. Authorities say the child was shot as the father scuffled with a Fulton County deputy, trying to get her gun.
Police said the struggle and shooting was the culmination of a domestic dispute that began earlier at the northwest Atlanta home of the boy's mother -- Tekemah Russell, also 22.
Russell told police Corbett took their son from her home and she followed him in a car, only to crash on Bankhead Highway. Russell was listed in critical but stable condition at Grady Memorial Hospital Thursday.
