TALLADEGA, ALABAMA - Donald Ray Wheat Sr., the suspect in the slayings of four young men at an Anniston video store, now faces additional robbery charges in Talladega County.
Authorities charged the Ashland man on Friday with two counts of first-degree robbery in the armed robberies of two convenience stores in Talladega County since February.
Wheat's girlfriend, Tina Duke, 43, of Lafayette is charged with robbery in one of the Talladega County holdups. She is being held in the county jail, with bond set at $250,000.
Sheriff Jerry Studdard said the latest charges were filed after investigators compared notes on the holdups. The convenience stores were hit Feb. 23 and May 10.

No injuries were reported in either robbery, Studdard said.
As for the May 15 Blockbuster Video slayings, Calhoun County District Attorney Joe Hubbard said he expects to bring capital murder charges against Wheat early next week. Wheat remains in the Anniston City Jail on a robbery charge in that case. Bond is set at $1 million.
In Georgia, Wheat is charged with the murder of a Bowdon, Ga. man slain during the May 10 robbery of his rural store, and with the attempted murder of a video store clerk in Heflin during a May 13 robbery in that east Alabama city.

Wheat faces a total of five robbery charges with the addition of the charges filed against him in Talladega County on Friday.
Meanwhile, Blockbuster spokesman Randy Hargrove said the store where the deaths occurred won't reopen in the same location. Company officials made the decision this week after speaking with employees and city officials.

Two store employees and two customers were shot to death during the robbery. People have placed flowers and memorials at the store.
Hargrove said the store had operated in Anniston more than 13 years.
