Woman killed trying to prevent carjacking

SAVANNAH - A woman was run over and killed as she tried to prevent a carjacker from stealing her car at a Savannah gas station. <br> <br> Debra Anderson, 48, was pumping gas at the station Thursday when a man jumped into her car at about 1:45 p.m. <br> <br> Police said the man tried to drive away in her 2001 Chevrolet Impala, but Anderson screamed and grabbed the steering wheel. She was thrown to the ground and run over. She was pronounced dead at a hospital Friday morning. <br> <br> Police recovered the car Thursday night but do not have a suspect in the death, which they have deemed a homicide. <br> <br> Chatham County police spokesman Sgt. Mike Wilson said carjackings are rare and that police do have a rough description of Anderson&#39;s assailant.
