ATLANTA - Construction of an apartment building on top of Underground Atlanta has been put on hold.

Developers say that's because of the soft rental market and engineering problems.

The 130-unit building housing some 260 tenants was planned to open in the summer of 2003. Developer John Aderhold says his only deadline now is to start the construction by June 2003 to meet criteria in the financing package.
The cost of addressing engineering problems is not yet know. Officials say there may not be a suitable existing foundation for the project.
The apartments will be called the Lofts at Underground.
