Pre-trial motions continue for Fayette County man in wife's death

FAYETTEVILLE - Pre-trial motions continue Friday in Fayette County Superior Court in the case of a man charged with murder in the death of his wife. <br> <br> The trial for 38-year-old Jim Watson is scheduled to begin next week. He is accused in the death of his wife, Beverley Watson, who dissappeared five years ago. <br> <br> Friday Superior Court Judge T. Jackson Bedford will hear attorneys&#39; arguments on whether he should permit two of Beverley Watson&#39;s friends to tell a jury what they say their friend had told them before her death. <br> <br> The defense contends the testimony is hearsay. <br> <br> Thursday, the couple&#39;s daughter, 18-year-old Ashley Watson, testified that she had seen only a loving family before her mother&#39;s death despite the fact that her parents were separating. <br> <br> Beverley Watson&#39;s two friends describe the relationship between the couple as a turbulent 14-year marriage in which Mrs. Watson told them to suspect her husband if she suffered a mysterious death. <br> <br> Watson told police he and his wife argued the night of January 17th, 1997, and that she threw the keys at him and walked out the door in the early morning hours of January 18th. He repoted her missing two days later. <br> <br> The woman&#39;s remains were found in woods outside Fairburn in 1999.
