AUGUSTA - Police have arrested a woman who said she was kidnapped and taken to Jacksonville, Fla., with her 1-year-old stepgrandson.
Richmond County Sheriff's Office Investigator Scott Peebles said Alice Pacquette, 58, was driving around Augusta buying crack cocaine and using it while baby-sitting Tekel Dunn, who was in her car.
Pacquette and the child were reported missing Monday night by Tekel's mom, Natasha Brown, after the two didn't show up for several hours.
Tuesday morning, more than 24 hours after Pacquette took the boy in her car to baby-sit, a deputy spotted the two near Brown's house.
``Initially, she told us a story that she was kidnapped,'' sheriff's Maj. Ken Autry said. ``But we had some information that conflicted with that.''
Pacquette was charged with contributing to the deprivation of a minor, Autry said. She was taken to the Richmond County Detention Center with bond set at $5,050, according to jail records.
Autry said Pacquette also reported being kidnapped in 1997.
