JONESBORO - Speeders in Clayton County beware: Police officers could be using radar guns again by the weekend.
State officials forced Clayton police to stop using the detection device after discovering the county's application for a radar permit contained photocopied signatures of county commissioners.
Commissioners approved a new permit application Tuesday. Solicitor Keith Martin, who prosecutes county traffic cases, says the state may issue a new permit by the end of the week.
County officials said no action would be taken against the employee who made the permit error.
Wayne Patterson, the county transportation director, called the use of photocopied signatures ``a stupid mistake on the part of me and my department.''
