Officer on administrative leave after shooting

HOLLY SPRINGS - A Holly Springs police officer is on paid administrative leave after a shootout that left a man dead. <br> <br> Police Chief Randy Moore said yesterday the leave is standard procedure following such an incident. <br> <br> Kevin Koester Senior was shot to death Monday night at a gas station off Interstate 575 in Cherokee County. He was living with a relative in Jasper. <br> <br> Authorities say the officer approached a suspicious car. Georgia Bureau of Investigation spokesman says gunfire erupted when it appeared that Koester reached for a gun. <br> <br> The GBI is investigating the shooting.
