LAWRENCEVILLE - Seven Norcross High School students stole more than $8,000 in merchandise from a SuperTarget with the help of a schoolmate who worked in the store, Gwinnett County police said.
All eight were charged with felony shoplifting in a case similar to a 1998 student-cashier scheme that netted $60,000 in goods from a Fulton County Wal-Mart, police spokesman Cpl. Ray Dunlap said.
The Norcross students stole items including DVD and video game players over a month from a Duluth store with the help of 18-year-old Joshua Collins, who worked in ``loss prevention,'' Dunlap said.
``He was using the store surveillance system to direct other Norcross High School students where to go and how to avoid the employees, and they've been walking out with literally carts full of high-dollar electronic goods,'' Dunlap said.
Police identified the other suspects as Richard Seale, 19; Trocon Williams, 19; George Dare, 18; Trenard Foster, 18; Edward Idleburg, 18; Brandon Stewart, 18; and Nicholas Ward, 17; all of Norcross.
