AUGUSTA - Augusta Regional Airport was evacuated for about two hours Friday afternoon after a suspicious bag was discovered behind a ticket counter. A device inside the bag turned out to be a hair dryer.
No flights were affected or canceled, said airport spokeswoman Kathryn Solee. Passengers boarded planes through outside gates, and baggage claim was moved outside.
Richmond County Sheriff's Sgt. Charles Harwell said the luggage was apparently left by an employee.
``They had to blow the lock off of it and enter the suitcase and make sure there wasn't anything in there the X-ray didn't show up,'' he said.
