DUBLIN - The woman who claims a trucker held her hostage for six months and beat her has been charged with giving false information about her identity, police said Friday.

The woman, who originally identified herself as 24-year-old Katina Shaddix, now has told police her name is Rhonda Shaddix, although she has also been known as Rhonda Lee Pate and Rhonda Butler, Dublin sheriff's Capt. Clyde Tipton said. Shaddix is also accused of giving police a false date of birth.

Tipton said Shaddix was arrested Friday and released on $1,500 bond.

Shaddix initially told police that she was from Washington state and had no family, but a man who identified himself as her brother called police and said she was from Anniston, Ala.

After interviewing Shaddix again, police brought her in to be fingerprinted. Results from the Federal Bureau of Investigation showed she had not been wanted or arrested previously, Sgt. Gerald Frazier said.

Police found Shaddix Saturday in Dublin after a janitor called police about a plea for help that she had scrawled on a bathroom wall at a Tennessee truck stop.

Shaddix has told police Shannon E. Jones, 26, of Delhi, N.Y., began beating her and holding her against her will after their 15-month-old relationship deteriorated. Jones is charged with kidnapping and aggravated assault. She said she had left about 30 similar help messages in bathrooms from New York to Tennessee.

She was hospitalized with internal injuries, broken bones and bruises and has been staying at a Laurens County women's shelter since leaving the hospital.

Police said no additional charges are anticipated against Jones or Shaddix.
