Parole officer indicted on sex charges

LAURINBURG, N.C. - A Scotland County, North Carolina, grand jury has indicted a former probation and parole officer on charges he had sex with four women in his custody. <br> <br> Thirty-four-year-old Charles Jesse Stone was indicted Monday on sex offense charges involving four women in his custody in 1998 and 1999. <br> <br> District Attorney Kristy Newton said he resigned in May 2000 and now works as a probation and parole officer in Georgia. <br> <br> Newton said Stone worked with women offenders in Georgia, but was given a desk assignment when Georgia officials learned about the investigation. <br> <br> Stone is scheduled to turn himself in to the State Bureau of Investigation by the end of the week. <br> <br> According to the indictments, Stone is accused of soliciting sex from parolees and probationers in return for reduced penalties. <br> <br> He also is accused of threatening parolees with prison if they didn&#39;t perform sex acts, exposing himself to them and touching them inappropriately. <br> <br> Reached Monday at his home in Marietta Stone said he did not know about the indictments.
