East Georgia College professor found slain in home

SWAINSBORO - Authorities said Tuesday that an East Georgia College professor found dead in her home had been slain. <br> <br> The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said 38-year-old Emily Pestana-Mason was killed Monday night. Her husband, Walt Mason, told police he found her when he came home at about 9:30 p.m. Their two daughters, ages two and four, who were also in the house, were unharmed. <br> <br> No arrests have been made. Officials said they have interviewed the daughters and other family members. <br> <br> Authorities said they expected to have autopsy results tomorrow, but said the death already has been ruled a homicide. They declined to discuss how Pestana-Mason was killed. <br> <br> Pestana-Mason was an English professor at the two-year college in Swainsboro, about 150 miles southeast of Atlanta. She specialized in creative writing and 20th Century American and British Literature. Her husband is a physical education professor at the same school.
