Sister of Macon police chief found beaten to death

MACON - A funeral was scheduled for Wednesday for the sister of the Macon police chief was found beaten to death in her home in Maryland. Her boyfriend was discovered dead in his backyard the next day in an apparent suicide. <br>

Police in Prince George's County, Maryland, are investigating the deaths. <br>

The beaten body of Eleanor Monroe-Ridge, sister of Macon Police Chief Rodney Monroe, was found last week. Police sought to question the boyfriend, Van Williams, but found him dead of a gunshot wound. <br>

Prince George's police Corporal George Long told The Macon Telegraph that the boyfriend's death is ``looking like a suicide, but that hasn't been confirmed.'' <br>

Monroe was an assistant chief in the Washington police department before he was hired as Macon police chief last spring.
