Ethics charges dropped against state Senator Walker

DOUGLASVILLE - The state Ethics Commission has dropped charges against Senate Majority Leader Charles Walker on his dealings with the state Department of Corrections. <br> <br> CresTech, a company that Walker&#39;s son helped organize, won a subcontracting bid with long-distance giant WorldCom. <br> <br> The contract gives them an exclusive multimillion dollar contract to provide telephone service to thousands of state prisoners. <br> <br> Walker&#39;s name was linked to an investigation by the Public Service Commission to see if prisoners were overcharged by CresTech. <br> <br> Throughout the investigation, Walker maintained he was unaware people were complaining that they were charged double the quoted rates. <br> <br> The Democratic senator did not attend Friday&#39;s hearing where the commission voted 3-0 in favor of dismissing the complaint against Walker.
