ALBANY - An Ohio-based communications company has announced plans to open a call center in Albany that will bring 150 jobs to southwest Georgia.
Officials welcomed CallTech Communications Monday. The center will open in June in the building that formerly housed Wal-Mart.
CallTech has two call centers in Ohio, one in Pennsylvania and one in Florida.
The Albany center will employ people who will field customer service and support calls for BellSouth's DSL service.
Lieutenant Governor Mark Taylor was on hand with a $1 million check to welcome the company to Albany.
The money was from the One Georgia Authority, which is distributing one-third of Georgia's tobacco settlement money toward economic development.
