New call center brings 150 jobs to Albany

ALBANY - An Ohio-based communications company has announced plans to open a call center in Albany that will bring 150 jobs to southwest Georgia. <br> <br> Officials welcomed CallTech Communications Monday. The center will open in June in the building that formerly housed Wal-Mart. <br> <br> CallTech has two call centers in Ohio, one in Pennsylvania and one in Florida. <br> <br> The Albany center will employ people who will field customer service and support calls for BellSouth&#39;s DSL service. <br> <br> Lieutenant Governor Mark Taylor was on hand with a $1 million check to welcome the company to Albany.<br> <br> The money was from the One Georgia Authority, which is distributing one-third of Georgia&#39;s tobacco settlement money toward economic development.<br> <br> (WALB-TV, Jim Wallace and David Fuller)
